The 24 briefs of Christmas...final day!!!

24th December

Here is the final installment of the 24 briefs of Christmas, my spare fabric and trims cupboard is looking bare and my fashion studio has become a knicker emporium.

Day 24 is looking extra festive in red silk with detachable suspender straps and swarovski crystal detail. I hope you have enjoyed this mini lingerie project, see the whole collection here:

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 21

21st December: Cherry Blossom briefs

I instantly fell in love with this pink floral printed silk, which reminded me of the cherry blossoms in Japan and was the inspiration behind this design.

Japan is my favourite country and is hugely inspiring, even in lingerie design. These knickers have side ties which tie into a bow detail to the back, reminiscent of the bow back Japanese kimono's.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 20

20th December: Purple flower fairy knickers

Todays addition is eye-catching hot pink silk briefs with a flower fairy print on the centre panel. Possibly a little too bright for every daywear, but a fun and quirky touch to the '24 briefs of Christmas.'

Todays addition to the 24 briefs of Christmas are these stretch shorts in ivory lace with keyhole detail at the back. Although the photo may not show it, the lace is covered in sparkly sequins.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 18

18th December: Nautical knickers

The nautical trend has been shifting in and out of fashion over the past few years, so it is about time Laced With Love attempted a nautical design, it is also an excuse to use up the little anchor buttons that have been sat in my sewing box.

These knickers are made from 100% silk in sailor blue with large white bow and anchor button detail.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 17

17th December: Cherry Pie knickers

I love anything a bit kitsch or retro, and fell in love with this fabric when I found it in a small fabric store in Melbourne, Australia. The fabric has a cherry pie print and reminded me of vintage packaging and posters from the 1940's.

The vintage style print looks adorable made into these cute little knickers, finished with black elastic

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 16

16th December: Embroidered bow knickers

These knickers were made as part of the Alice in Wonderland collection,
along with the Mad Hatter briefs from day 4:

Here are the 'Alice' inspired knickers, made form a light blue crepe fabric, featuring an embroidered bow on the back and white ribbon ties.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 15

15th December: Tartan pattern briefs

I have had the smallest piece of tartan fabric in my fabric cupboard for over a year, just the perfect size to make these cute little knickers. Since visiting Edinburgh recently I have a new found love for tartan and love the slight preppy look these knickers have.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 14

14th December: Liberty Print green tone knickers

I fell in love with day 7's Liberty Print briefs: http://www.lacedwithlove.net/2011/12/7th-december.html so I couldn't resist making them in another colourway.

This time using the greentone Liberty print floral cotton, trimmed with a lace edging to give the briefs and adorable vintage look.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 11

11th December: Vintage button briefs

Along with my obsession with fabric, is an obsession to collect buttons, especially the vintage kind.
I actually prefer buttons to be used as a detail, rather than functionality which is why Laced With Love photoshoots often have completely impractical button jewellery and randomly placed vintage buttons to add a kitsche charm.

Todays knickers are made from teal silk with a trio of silver tone vintage buttons.

9th December: Embellished briefs

Adding a bit of sparkle to 'the 24 briefs of Christmas,' these silver silk knickers have beaded embellishment detail, perfect for special occasions.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 8

8th December: Monotone silk briefs

Whenever I visit a new city, I can't resist having a look in the local fabric shops and haberdasheries to see how they compare to the UK.
I picked up this black and white floral printed silk in Melbourne, Australia. This is another fabric I have been reluctant to cut into, since I know I can't get any more. These simple but very pretty briefs have a printed centre panel and plain side panels and rear, which work perfectly with the contrasting black elastic and bows.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 7

7th December: Liberty print floral briefs

I have a slight obsession with Liberty prints and couldn't resist this floral cotton print. The lace edging gives the knickers a vintage look and the cotton is incredibly comfortable to wear. ♥

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 3

3rd December: Floral briefs

Adding a little bit of summer to brighten up a cold winters day, these floral briefs are made out of a gorgeous lightweight crepe that I thought would be great for summer lingerie and nightwear sets. The knickers are finished with peach ribbon side ties.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 2

2nd December: Snowflake Charm briefs

I have a huge collection of charms and various other embellishments and the '24 briefs of Christmas' project seemed a great idea to make use of them.

These cute frilly knickers are made in winter white silk, with a detachable snowflake charm and bow, finished with frilly elastic.

The 24 Briefs of Christmas: Day 1

1st December: Pin-up girl briefs

I got this Agent Provocateur pin-up girl printed silk last year in Paris and have been wishing I had bought more ever since! But at £40 a metre, I had to limit myself to 1 metre and have been very reluctant to cut into it. What better occasion to start using the silk than day 1 of Laced With Love's Christmas campaign - the 24 briefs of Christmas.

The gorgeous printed silk was only used for the centre panel, with ivory silk at the side panels and rear. The hot pink elastic and bows perfectly compliment the print.

A Laced With Love Christmas

It's the 1st of December and it's all very festive at Laced With Love HQ.

As a creative a way to use up the copious amounts of silk, trims and elastic in my fabric cupboard, Laced With Love is making a Christmas Knickers Advent Calendar, counting down the 24 days until Christmas with a different knicker style each day.

Enjoy!

Well, it's been another busy creative week.

Sunday 27th November was the official book launch for 24Models24Hours, it was a great turnout, free cocktails and the final 24 images were revealed. Laced With Love supplied the dress for the 7pm shoot which can be seen below....

#24Models24Hours - Charity Fashion Event

Laced With Love was honoured to be asked to contribute to this project as it is for a great cause - raising money for BBC Children in Need.

The project was organised by Ewan Mathers and Holly Booth, two great local photographers who also shot the 'Retro Poetic' collection earlier in 2011.

Holly and Ewan arranged 24 designers, 24 models and a team of hair and make-up professionals to create 24 stunning shots which will be published in a book and exhibited locally. The book is also available to buy for £24.24, with all profits going to Children in Need.

See the teaser trailor below, and look out for the Laced With Love red dress!

All 24 final photoshoot pictures will be posted soon :)

New work!

Busy times at Laced With Love HQ, hence no blog posts for a while. Below of pictures of the latest creation, which was for 24models24hours project.

Playing on the idea of time, the idea was to create an hourglass shape dress which would work well for a night time shoot, as the photoshoot was at 8pm (which is very dark in UK wintertime!)

The dress features chiffon roses on the shoulder, and the skirt has a fishtail and small train at the back..

I can't wait to see the final photoshoot pictures, which will be arriving soon, the dress looked so much better on the model!

DIOR gowns and a new collaborative project!

Laced with Love is really excited to be taking part in a new collaborative project - 24 MODELS IN 24 HOURS.

It's a collaboration between local fashion photographers Ewan Mathers and Holly Booth, along with 24 models and 24 different designers. The project is running from 8am until 8am the following day and the idea is to photograph a model every hour in different looks.....the result being 24 beautiful images showing the creativity the UK has to offer.

The theme for the project is Italian Vogue which gives us the opportunity to let creativity flow and create a couture gown. Looking to Dior for inspiration, I came across this fab video showing what goes into creating a couture gown showing a dedicated team with superior skills and craftmanship. There's a reason couture gowns are so expensive!

Also on the subject of Dior, I have to mention their latest advertising campaign for Dior J'adore fragrance. The advert features Charlize Theron hitting the catwalk and digitally enhanced scenes of Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly and Marlene Dietrich getting ready back stage. The video is shot in a way that it makes all of the actresses appear to be in the same place, bringing Marilyn Monroe back to life. If you've not seen the advert take a look here.....

After watching these inspirational videos, I cannot wait to begin work on the couture gown and take part in the 24models24Hours project!

Laced With Love has recently been working on a bespoke Bridal lingerie order. The wedding is today so I can finally share the images with you!

 3. Silk and corded Lace Basque

4. all boxed up and ready to go..

A lot of time, thought and concentration went into creating these pieces, but the finished pieces are so worth it! Look out for more Laced With Love bridal coming in 2012.

Moda Fashion Trade Show

At the weekend I visited Moda Fashion Trade Show in birmingham. The event is held over 3 days with hundreds of different fashion brands exhibiting, and catwalk shows throughout the day.

Having been to the Paris Trade Shows in the past, Moda wasn't quite as impressive. Although they did put on some interested catwalk shows. Here are a few snaps from the Calvin Klein show, where the models added a bit of drama and danced down the catwalk. I'm not sure the dramatic display really sold the lingerie to me, but it was great for entertainment value!....

Christian Lacroix and other great Fashion Illustrators

I have always admired great fashion illustrators, and here are a couple of my favourites.

Christian Lacroix
Picking up a Christian Lacroix book at school is an early memory I have of realising I wanted to work in fashion. His quirky illustration style is still so classic and inspiring, Lacroix really manages to demonstrate the extravagance of his designs, through illustration.

Sandra Suy
I recently discovered Sandra Suy and have great admiration for her work. Her illustrations use real faces, so they are not quite as spontaneous as the Christian Lacroix illustrations.
I love the way the Sandra Suy uses mixed media and there is so much attention to detail in her drawings...

Made in Britain

Laced With Love is dedicated to keeping manufacture within the UK. Not only to sustain quality but also to support the economy.

Recently I have been lucky enough to visit some of the few remaining British clothing factories, which make coats for the like of customers including Burberry and Barbour.

Last week I had the privilege of watching these Barbour jackets being made by a highly skilled team of tailors and machinists. The jackets use a 'Liberty Print' lining, which I love!

Visiting the factories has only reconfirmed Laced With Love's belief in UK manufacturing and sustaining British Heritage. We look forward to launching our online shop in 2012, all products will of course, be handmade in Britain.

High Fashion Photoshoot

Still on a high from how well the vintage fashion photoshoot went (see here), Laced With Love decided to do a reshoot of the 'Retro Poetic' Collection.

The re-shoot was to show the collection in a modern, contemporary light, so it was shot in one of Derbyshire's more contemporary restaurants.

Photographer, Emilee Macarthur has done an amazing job of showcasing the detail within the garments and creating a high fashion look that, in our opinion, would look not look out of place gracing the pages of British or Italian Vogue.

Vintage Fashion Photoshoot

After months of researching, designing, sourcing, planning and sewing here is the debut collection by Laced With Love. The collection, titled 'Retro Poetic' is a modern take on vintage clothing, so it seemed a perfect match when we were offered the chance to use a Nissan Figaro, a (fairly) modern, vintage inspired car. Our very own Audrey Hepburn-esque model Natalie also added to the vintage appeal!

The shots turned out fantasic, thanks to perfect weather, which is very rare for an April morning in Britain.  Here are some of the best snaps from the day!
